Disclaimer & Appropriate Use
PlainCollege publishes college costs, student-debt, and post-graduation earnings data so that prospective students and families can compare institutions. Because those figures touch directly on money and major life decisions, please read how this information should — and should not — be used.
Informational Only — Not Professional Advice
The data and analysis on PlainCollege are provided for general informational purposes only. They are not financial, investment, tax, or admissions advice, and do not constitute a recommendation to attend, avoid, or pay for any particular institution or program. Return-on-investment, debt-to-earnings, and net-price figures are statistical summaries of past cohorts, not predictions of any individual student’s cost, earnings, or outcome. For guidance on your own situation, consult a qualified financial advisor, a school’s financial-aid office, or a school counselor.
Data Reflects a Point in Time
All figures reflect the U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard and IPEDS as of the vintage shown on each page. Earnings data has an inherent multi-year lag — the most recent figures typically describe students who enrolled six to ten years earlier. Tuition, net price, and admissions data may not reflect the current academic year. Always confirm current costs and requirements directly with the institution before making a decision.
Known Limits of the Data
- Earnings cover only students who received federal financial aid, which can skew figures at wealthier institutions.
- Program-level earnings are suppressed for small cohorts, so many school–program combinations have no reported figure.
- Return-on-investment metrics do not account for local cost of living, field of work, or the non-monetary value of an education.
- Statistical averages describe a group, not what any one student will experience.
